Carissa Green Reads

I read widely from many genres. Perhaps this blog will feature fewer ratings and reviews, but I certainly intend to write about my reading life - it's the subject I most find myself wanting to talk about.

Currently reading

D-Day: June 6, 1944: The Climactic Battle of WWII
Stephen E. Ambrose
Symphony for the City of the Dead: Dmitri Shostakovich and the Siege of Leningrad
M.T. Anderson
The Path Between the Seas
David McCullough
Chekhov Four Plays
Anton Chekhov, David Magarshack
The Gay Science: with a Prelude in Rhymes and an Appendix of Songs
Walter Kaufmann, Friedrich Nietzsche
A Kierkegaard Anthology
Robert W. Bretall

Hey, I met my reading goal . . .

— feeling happy

So I set my BookLikes reading goal for the year at 52 - averaging a book a week is fair, I think.

Today, BookLikes tells me I met that goal. This might be the fastest I've ever met my reading "goal" - which is, of course, silly and artificial anyway - (in the years I've been keeping track).

Of course, there have been some plays (one-sitting books), poetry (generally shorter, although I read them very slowly), and kids' books. What this also means is that my reading is diverse - I can be proud of a reading list that includes literary classics and mass-market pop culture.

It's not about quantity - it's about breadth.

Four more months in 2015 and many books to come. Stay tuned.
